Would you like to learn the heritage art of North American rug hooking in an easy going, relaxed environment?
February through May is the time baby goats are born, and this hooking pattern was inspired by this special time of year. Join us for a two session spring hooking class where our project is the Parris House Pumpkin table mat or pillow.
Session One, August 12th, 9 AM – NOON: Introduction to hooking including some history of the craft, an overview of styles, how to choose hooking wools and other materials, tools, rules, tips, and tricks, and getting started on our goat projects.
Session Two: August 26th, 9 AM – NOON: Steaming, serging, and finishing our projects with the binding material of your choice. Offered finishing techniques will be twill tape binding, corded wool binding, and whipstitch binding, OR pillow finishing.
All materials are provided and included in the price except the hooking frames, which will be on loan to you for the duration of the course. At the end of the course you may opt to purchase any of the frames (numerous models) we have available in the shop, or ask for guidance on purchasing a frame elsewhere.
Materials included in the price of the course are: hook, pattern hand drawn on high quality serged linen, all wool and materials needed to complete the pattern, printed class materials and resources bound in a folder, rug binding materials (twill tape, corded wool, or yarn or pillow back) including needle and thread, six hours of instruction, unlimited access to the instructor for questions and assistance in between classes, refreshments during class, new friends and a new craft!
I hope you will join us to usher in spring with this fun class!
